ABOUT US

WPA had its inaugural year in 2018 with over 300 participants ranging in ages 4-17, the majority of them from the Six Nations of the Grand River community. It was an outdoor training facility that provided children and youth the opportunity to build strength through athletic drills and obstacle play on our ninja warrior course. We operated throughout the summer months and were subjected to rain and heat delays that forced our training days to be canceled. We are in the process of building the Warrior Park Rec Plex, a 9000 sq. foot indoor training facility, that will house our ninja warrior obstacle course, gym equipment, Lu Interactive Playground, functioning kitchen for nutritional programming and a class/meeting room. The RecPlex will allow Warrior Park to operate daily, year-round and provide a safe space for children and youth to be active and engage in a healthy living lifestyle.

We broke ground on our building in November 2019 and erected the steel building in April 2020. Our goal is to have the building completed by June of 2022 and open our doors in the Summer of 2022.

Our facility includes several attributes geared to provide engaging & interactive programming for our children & youth. Those elements include our Ninja Warrior style obstacle course “The Warrior”, Our ClimbStation Rock Wall, Lu-Interactive Centre, Theatre, Kitchen & Learning Hub. We provide at-cost youth training for the community of Six Nations and surrounding areas. Helping families afford local incentive based, technology driven programs, activities & services for children & youth.

Our primary focus is on the Six Nations (N0A 1M0) and Mississauga’s of the Credit (N0A 1H0) reserves, however, we have also had participants from neighbouring communities such as Caledonia (N3W 0A1/0A2/0A3), Hagersville (N0A 1H0), Jarvis (N0A 1J0), Waterford (N0E 1Y0) and Brantford (N3T 2G6). We have also built a mobile obstacle course that can be erected on-site for people to enjoy.  We have set up our mobile unit in the Six Nations Community at various locations as well as Caledonia. We have discussed the possibility of increasing our mobile footprint to other reserves, including the North.

Our biggest indicator of success would be the improvement of both the physical and mental health of our participants. Our incentive based training model for youth programming is aligned with Canadian Sport Life’s Long-term Athlete Development and High Five Standards. Our program uses a holistic approach that considers mental, cognitive and emotional development combined with physical development and sport literacy.
